Who are the Characters of Detention 101?

There are five main characters of Detention 101. I started creating them by thinking what would the characters of The Breakfast Club be like if they grew up to be adults?

And then I thought about the system of classism in the US.

And so I came up with:

• Gladys: Alcoholic. Above others in her 1% ivory tower. Cynical and lonely.

• Stan: CPA. Haunted by what his life was supposed to be. Upper middle class but still felt the need to steal money from his clients. Entitled.

• Christine: Failed athlete. Overly book educated. Not life educated. Appears as though she thinks she has all the answers but deep down she is lost. Middle class.

• Sally: Outsider. Street smart. Not afraid to speak her mind. Blue collar.

• GAL: AI. Does not understand humans but finds them fascinating creatures. Has no interest in money or things.

By having characters that were all white (except the AI who is non-corporeal and an observer), I sought to take a part, bit by bit the class system in the US and face their white privilege which takes the full arc of the film to reveal. So I hope you stick around for that.
